Hint, Hint Ladies – Get Your Valentine a Gift Certificate

Patriot Surplus Gift Certificates

Patriot Surplus Gift Certificates

It’s almost here: Valentine’s Day. To some, it’s a day for rejoicing. For others, it’s a day to be feared. But ladies (yes, this post is for our lady patriots), you don’t have to worry about getting your guy another sweater he won’t wear this year. Instead, you can get him something he’ll actually want for Valentine’s Day; something he’ll appreciate and can actually get some good use of.

We’re talking about gift certificates. Last year, we had plenty of lady patriots come forward to ask, “Steve, I have no idea what to get him for Valentine’s Day – what should I do?” Well, ladies, the answer is simple. Let your guy pick out what he wants. He knows you care (I mean, c’mon – you’re asking him to pick out something he actually wants!) and he’ll still be delighted with what he gets.¬†And of course, it’s from you, so he knows it’s special (awww!).

So, lady patriots, get your Patriot Surplus gift certificate today while you’re planning your romantic evening. Because nothing says love like a military hoodie and a new pair of Belleville Flyweights. :)

P.S. - Any guys out there looking to delight their camo diva? Their fierce huntress? Their own lady patriot? Well, gift certificates are also great ideas for Valentine’s Day if your special lady wants to stock up on some new pink camo, a pair of women’s combat boots, or some new hunting gear. Hey, flowers, chocolates, and jewelry are also great bets, but in case you want a little something different his year. Just be sure to do something special for her too. The best gift you can give on Valentine’s Day is spending some time together (shucks, folks – getting all sentimental now!).

Stay Warm, Patriots! Our Top Picks for Winter Hunting Gear

Lacrosse Hunting Waders

Lacrosse Hunting Waders

Brrr. Just thinking about being outside at this time of year is enough to chill anyone to the bone. But hey, if you’re a hardcore hunter, this is one of your dream seasons. This is the time of year when you go out to do what you enjoy most. So, when you’re chilling (literally) in the woods waiting for your game, consider some of our top picks for staying toasty this winter while hunting:

Lacrosse Brush-Tuff 1200G MO Break-Up Waders: These tough, feature-packed hunting waders from Lacrosse are a great way to stay warm and dry, even on the coldest of mornings. Not to mention, who doesn’t love a good pair of sturdy waders? These Lacrosse Brush-Tuff hunting waders feature a construction of heavyweight 5mm fleece-lined neoprene with abraison-resistant facing. Thinsulate Ultra Insulation in the boot keeps your feet toasty while the deep set hand warmer pockets ensure that you can always tuck along a few hand warmers for the trip. Available in Mossy Oak camouflage.

Performance Polypropylene Thermal Underwear: A patriot has to stay warm and dry, right? So, when you’re getting dressed for your next trip, consider starting off with a solid base layer that can wick awawy moisture from your body while offering cold weather comfort. Our pick? Performance Polypropylene Thermal Underwear in black, sand, blue, or brown.

G.I. Neck Gaiters: Freezing your you-know-whats off? Not to worry, you can get one step closer to toasty with a neck gaiter from our selection of military thermals. These fleece lined neck gaiters are adjustable to cover the neck, mouth, and ears. Available in black, brown, and foliage green.

Camouflage Thinsulate Hunting Gloves: Elasticized wrists, suede leather palms, and a whole lotta warmth make these hunting gloves a solid pick. Available in classic camouflage, these hunting gloves are great for any outdoor activity.

And of course, a good pair of hunting boots goes a long way. What are some of your hunting wear must-haves? Have a favorite pair of hunting waders or hunting boots? Have a tip for staying warm in the woods? Share it in the comments!

Another Great Year for the Marine Toys for Tots Program

The final stats haven’t been released yet, but based on media reports from around the country, the 2011 Toys for Tots drive was a success.

According to the charity’s official website, Toys for Tots began in 1947 when Major Bill Hendricks, USCR and a group of Marine Reservists in L.A. collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children. Today, it’s the largest and most successful holiday gift drive in the world. As Marines, we wouldn’t expect anything less than the best when it comes to giving our all to help out. If you ask us, we Marines are Santa’s right hand men. We make sure that kids everywhere get the joy they deserve on Christmas morning.

Since the start of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, Marines have distributed more than 400 million toys to more than 188 million children in need. That’s truly amazing.

Plus in 2011, Toys for Tots was able to partner with a great number of companies and organizations, including Mud Pie, PODS Moving and Storage, the NFL, and the Hallmark Channel.

Online marketplace eBay also got involved this year by setting up a “Give-A-Toy Store” where shoppers could donate toys through a mobile device. Just think, a few button pushes on your smart phone and you can give a child an amazing Christmas. Isn’t technology wonderful? LivingSocial, a daily deals site, also gave $2 million to Toys for Tots during the 2011 holiday season, making one of the largest gifts to the organization we’ve ever seen.

At Patriot Surplus, we thank everyone who donated for their contributions and support. The holiday season is always a time to think about giving to those who need it most, but from our perspective, we can truly say that this is a wonderful cause. We’re a proud supporter of Toys for Tots and can’t wait to see the numbers for the 2011 holiday season.

And hey, in 2012, we can shoot even higher. After all, we’re Marines. We don’t settle for anything less than the best.
